Norwich Officials Prepare For Trouble Along the Yantic

Another inch to three inches of rain is not what the state needs, particularly those communities situated along flood-prone rivers.

In Norwich, officials have thousands of sandbags ready to go in anticipation of flooding with this latest storm.

He says they preparing for as much as five inches of rain.

Three years ago, the Yantic River in Norwich experienced major flooding and city emergency management director Gene Arters says on the heels of last week’s storm, they’re preparing for the worst.

Arters says they’re expecting the river to reach 13-feet which would be 4-feet above flood stage.
