The latest reports of bear-sightings in the state come from Wethersfield.
Wethersfield Police say they’ve received five separate reports of bears spotted around town yesterday (Wednesday) and today .
The spottings started with one on the Berlin Turnpike near Arrow Road Wednesday afternoon – one day after Newington police had reported a bear spotting near Willard and Harding. In Wethersfield, the sightings continued in the area of Desmond Drive at about 7:30 a.m. Thursday, then Wells Road near Mapleside Drive about forty minutes later.
At 10:30 Thursday, there was a report that two bears had been seen together on the course at the Wethersfield Country Club, then about 2 p.m. a bear was reported in the back yard of a home on Clarkridge Road.
Wethersfield police remind residents to take steps to make sure their homes and yards are not attracting bears with accessible garbage, pet food and bird feeders.
Police ask anyone seeing a bear in Wethersfield to call Wethersfield Police (860) 721-2900.
