TOLLAND, Conn. (AP) _ Voters in Tolland, Willington and Ashford will be heading to the polls to pick a new state representative.

The special election in the 53rd District to replace former state Rep. Bryan Hurlburt is set for Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Hurlburt resigned in April to accept a presidential appointment at the U.S. Department of Agriculture as state executive director for Connecticut of the Farm Service Agency.

On the ballot are Democrat Anthony J. Horn of Ashford and Republican Samuel Belsito of Tolland.

Horn is a musician and a member of the Ashford Board of Finance. Belsito is a men’s clothing store owner who serves on the Tolland Town Council.
