BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) _ A 50-year-old Bridgeport man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for stabbing to death a neighbor who had asked him to turn down his reggae music.
Cargil Nicholson, a native of Jamaica, was sentenced on a manslaughter charge Thursday.
The Connecticut Post reports (http://bit.ly/13guspl ) James Cleary Jr. died on March 13, 2012 after stabbed in the back with a kitchen knife.
Prosecutors say the two men got into an argument after Cleary asked Nicholson to turn down the music. Police say he Cleary family had made 11 prior music-related complaints to police about their upstairs neighbor.
Nicholson’s attorneys argued the stabbing was self-defense, and came after Cleary burst into Nicholson’s apartment and began punching him.
