Two people were injured this afternoon, when part of a ceiling came down in a Hartford middle school.
Ceiling panels and a light fixture fell at McDonough Expeditionary Learning School.
“There was a partial ceiling collapse in a classroom at McDonough school,” Hartford Public Schools spokesperson David Medina said. “I understand that a student and a teacher were injured slightly.”
The 13-year-old student suffered bruises to the arm, and the 26-year-old student teacher was also bruised. Both were taken to the hospital.
The school serves students in sixth grade through eighth grade.
The fire department said a section of 3/4 inch thick sheet rock fell from the ceiling.
