Bridgeport Suspends Manager Of Sikorsky Airport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) _ Bridgeport’s mayor has suspended the manager of Sikorsky Airport while the city investigates why taxpayers paid for a driveway leading to a mansion of an airport neighbor.

The Connecticut Post reports (http://bit.ly/11tAGUq ) the city not only paid $400,000 for the driveway, but hired the mansion’s owner, developer Manuel Moutinho, to build it.

Airport Manager John Ricci acknowledged to the newspaper Wednesday that he had private business dealings with Moutinho, but says the city was aware of that relationship. City records show the two were involved in property transactions.

Mayor Bill Finch suspended Ricci Wednesday, saying the city was investigating a possible conflict of interest.

The city’s attorney had previously defended the driveway deal as necessary for the creation of a safety zone around the airport.
