Woman Faces Charges For Driving Drunk With Kids

Westport police are charging a woman after they say she was driving while intoxicated with children in the vehicle.

Officers say they were called around six p.m. Tuesday by a concerned motorist who reported 44-year-old Kelly Haazen driving erratically on Long Lots Road and Post Road East.

The driver then reported Haazen rolling on to an embankment and hitting stop sign.

Following that, Haazen allegedly pulled on to East Main Street and struck a vehicle.

Police tracked Haazen to a residence on Lantern Hill in town where they say she admitted driving with the children, aged four through ten but denied hitting a vehicle.

She faces DUI, evading responsibility and four risk of injury charges and is free on five-thousand-dollars bond.
