Wallingford Man Gets 30 Months For Drug Distribution

A Wallingford man was sentenced in New Haven today to 30 months in federal prison for his involvement in a drug distribution scheme involving large amounts of oxycodone and marijuana.

The U.S. District Attorney’s office reports that 25-year-old Robert Melillo traveled to California on several occasions in order to purchase large quantities of marijuana, which he then brought back to Connecticut for distribution in and around New Haven.

Melillo was initially arrested on February 1 on charges stemming from an August 2012 incident in which police stopped him at San Fransisco International Airport and seized $30,000 from his carry-on. He was released on bond and pleaded guilty on March 1 to possession with intent to distribute for oxycodone and marijuana.

After serving his sentence, Melillo will be placed under supervised release for a period of three years.
