HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Feed The Children is sending two tractor-trailers full of food to Hartford to help low-income families.
Volunteers are set to distribute 25-pound boxes of food and personal care items to families Thursday at the Comcast Theater. Food and drinks have been donated by PepsiCo, Frito-Lay, Quaker, Aquafina and Price Rite.
The stop in Hartford is part of Feed The Children’s nationwide Americans Feeding Americans Caravan. The Oklahoma City-based charity says the caravan has helped more than 450,000 families across the country since 2009.
Organizers of the Hartford event say nearly one in seven children in Hartford is at risk of hunger.
The local, nonprofit Community Renewal Team has identified families that will receive the aid and will be helping distribute the food.
