HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) Connecticut lawmakers are taking up bills that spell out details of the new two-year, $44 billion state budget bill that awaits Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s signature.

By a vote of 93-48, the House of Representatives on Tuesday passed a wide-ranging bill that details state housing, human services and public health programs.

Among other things, the bill ends the Charter Oak Health Plan as of Jan. 1. Charter Oak was first instituted by former Gov. M. Jodi Rell in 2008 to provide coverage to uninsured residents ages 19-64. Participants are expected to get coverage under the Affordable Care Act.

The Senate was debating the bill late Tuesday night. The budget received final legislative approval Monday. After $6.4 billion in federal Medicaid spending is shifted off-budget, the total budget is $37.6 billion.
