PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A 16-year-old boy has been charged in connection with this weekend’s shooting a kindergartener’s graduation party in Providence.
The South Providence teen turned himself into authorities on Monday and is charged with felony assault, conspiracy, carrying a firearm while committing a violent crime, and carrying a firearm without a license.
Police say the teen, whose name has not been released, crashed the party for the 5-year-old on Sunday, and was told to leave or pay for the food he was eating.
The say he left, but came back with some friends and someone in the group opened fire on the party guests.
A 16-year-old girl, Ny’asia Lawrence, was struck in the back and wounded.
Police say they are searching for two other suspects.
