New Haven Police Investigate Homicide at Fire Scene

At 1:51 a.m., Police were called to 161 Whalley Ave. to investigate a reported domestic crime.

Once there, officers entered the building and found it filled with smoke. A fire was burning in the third floor apartment.

The fire was eventually extinguished and The deceased body of a Georgette Alston, 31, was found within. Detectives are investigating the incident as a probable homicide.

While on scene, officers were approached by Frank Moore, 35, who lived. He was arrested for first degree assault.

The investigation is centered on Alston’s death and the suspected arson fire.

Additional charges are likely, but will likely follow an autopsy and death investigation, conducted by the State of Connecticut’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
