Three Injuries In Willimantic Fire

Willimantic’s Fire Department didn’t make it to the Memorial Day parade Monday.   Chief Marc Scrivener says crews were preparing for the parade at 8:29 a.m.  when an alarm came in for a fire on Brook Street.  When crews  arrived at the three-family home, they found heavy fire coming from two windows,  and immediately called a second alarm.

Chief Scrivener  says residents were able to get out of the building on their own, but two were treated for burns after trying to put the fire out on their own before the fire department’s arrival.

He says one firefighter was injured, as well, and required treatment.  The chief says damage was extensive, and the Red Cross is helping residents with housing.
