Usually WTIC News has to leave our studio here at 10 Executive Drive in Farmington to cover news stories.  But this morning the story came to us,  as a bear wandered across our front lawn on Executive Drive,  across from the Farmington Sports Arena.

A quick-thinking friend, Terry Schnurr,  General Sales Manager of Lynch Toyota, Manchester,  snapped this photo,  and a second, where the bear is hidden in the shadows:

Farmington police said they’d had no other reports of bear sigjhtings on Thursday morning,  but later in the day, Avon school officials alerted parents that a black bear had been spotted on the grounds of the Avon Middle School.  Students in the area were taken back inside the school and police followed the bear’s movements through the woods.  No students were allowed to walk home through the woods behind the school,  and bus drivers were told to be on the lookout for any bear sightings.
