Police: “Dog-Walker” Was Breaking Into Cars

Plainfield police say they’ve arrested a Waterbury man following a series of burlaries in the Shephard Hill Road area of their town.  Police say an investigation of thefts from a garage led them to a man with a dog on a leash standing in a driveway by an open car door.  When they apprached them,  he began to run.

Near the vehicle they found a cooler style bag with items, including loose change, personal electronic and other items,  including a GPS unit with the home address of a nearby home,  whose resident identified the unit as theirs.  Police say other victims nearby also reported their cars had been burglarized.

Matthew Kelly was arrested on a variety of burglary and larceny charges.  Police are asking other victims to get in touch with  Officer Joe Mackin at (860) 564-0804.
