Remains Found In Trumbull Characterized As Human

TRUMBULL, Conn. (AP) _ Human remains were found Friday in the woods near the Bridgeport-Trumbull line, near where police have been searching for a missing Eastern Connecticut State University student.

The unidentified woman’s remains were found by state police working with cadaver-sniffing dogs, according to a news release from state police. Canine teams were continuing to search the area, and detectives responded to the scene off Quarry Road in Trumbull to begin a criminal investigation.

Police have been searching for 20-year-old Alyssiah Wiley, who was reported missing from the school on April 24. A dive team searched nearby Bunnell Pond in Bridgeport on Thursday.

Wiley was last seen April 20 in Willimantic en route to the university’s campus, according to police.

Campus and state police have searched the area and other parts of the state. Troopers have used search dogs and aircraft and interviewed numerous people who know Wiley.

Police also found a black Nissan Altima last week near the Bridgeport-Fairfield line that they said was connected to the case, but officials wouldn’t say how it was related.
