Hartford Announces Gun Buy-Back

Once again, officials in Hartford are sponsoring a gun buyback program.

Police, the three hospitals, trial attorneys and others want residents with unwanted firearms to come out on Saturday.

They be collecting guns at Community Renewal Team offices on Windsor Street from nine a.m. until three p.m.

Last year, a similar buyback netted 181 firearms, including 148 handguns.  It’s the latter that police say is the primary weapon used to commit crimes.

In exchange for a firearm, residents will be eligible to receive Stop and Shop gift cards ranging from $25 to $150.
