Three hooded mergansers are the ducks featured in the winning entry of the 2013-2014 Connecticut Duck Stamp Art Contest. Wildlife artist John Brennan was the winner of the competution, and his art will be used on the 2014 Connecticut Duck stamp.
The program, which is modeled after the federal Duck Stamp Program, is designed to generate funds for wetland conservation. Hunters must have both a hunting license and a state duck stamp to legally hunt waterfowl in Connecticut.
Stamps can be purchased for $13 each wherever hunting and fishing licenses are sold.
The top three finishers in the art competition will be on display at the Sessions Woods Conservation Education Center in Burlington through the end of August.
