Two young Mystic Aquarium penguins took the plunge for the first time today.

Senior Penguin Trainer Tracy Camp says the penguins went for their first swim in the pool at the penguin pavilion.

“Once we coaxed them into the pool for the first time, they got out rather quickly. They were a little nervous and a little afraid,” Camp said.  “We brought a few of the adult birds out, and once they saw the adult birds gliding through the water, they were much more eager to get in and chase the adult birds around.”

The penguins were born at Mystic in February.

They have lost their initial, fluffy feathers, and but they still have the gray color of young penguins.
