Cops: Burglar Scared Off By Broom

Call it a clean sweep of an attempted crime.

In Bridgeport, police say an Alanson Road resident was startled by a loud noise in his kitchen while watching TV around 3:30 Thursday morning.

The intruder told the resident not to move, appearing to be holding a handgun.

The resident countered by telling the burglar he was armed with a shotgun.

The burglar fled.  The shotgun turned out to be a broom.
