Plane Flips Over In Meriden

There was a mishap involving a plane in Meriden this afternoon. A plane flipped over at Meriden-Markham Airport.

In a written statement, the FAA said “At approximately 2 p.m. a ZODIAC 601ZL single engine plane with only one person on board, flipped over as it landed.”

Mayor Michael Rohde says the pilot was taken to the hospital, although it was not clear how badly the pilot was hurt.

Investigators were on the scene.

Crews were working to clear the runway after the incident.

Meriden-Markham Airport is located on Evansville Avenue.  It is owned by the city of Meriden.  The airport has one runway which handles single-engine planes, and light twin-engine aircraft.
