Metal Shop Explosion In Enfield

ENFIELD, Conn. (AP) — Enfield firefighters say a propane tank exploded at a local metal shop and injured two people.

Authorities say the tank exploded at Eastern Metal Treating on Bacon Road at about 2 p.m. Tuesday. The cause is under investigation.

Officials with the Shaker Pines Fire Department say the workers are being treated at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Mass., for burns that aren’t life-threatening. Their names haven’t been released.

Fire officials told WFSB-TV that two men were changing a propane tank on a forklift when the explosion happened.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is expected to investigate.
