McKinney Questions Malloy Trip

State Senate Republican leader John McKinney is accusing Governor Malloy of being in violation of state ethics laws in connection with last weekend’s attendance at the White House Correspondents Dinner —  and McKinney says the  governor “needs to account for his actions and make amends.”

Malloy was a guest of People Magazine at the dinner.  Citing reports that the governor’s travel, accommodations and entertainment are estimated to have cost at least a thousand dollars, McKinney said public officials are not to accept gifts worth more than $100 a year from “a non-restricted donor.”  He said he considers it irrelevant that People Magazine and its parent company, Time, Inc. are not lobbyists.
