Transformer Failure At UConn Library

The University of Connecticut says the Homer Babbidge  library closed  early Friday evening, after a transformer failure Thursday night.  Service has been  re-routed through two remaining transformers,  and the library will open on a normal schedule Saturday,  10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The three transformers date to 1976,  and the one which failed will have to be replaced.

The failed transformer provided service to the south section of the building, and there was  not enough ambient light to allow it to remain open after dark.
