Big Drug Sweep In New Britain

More than seventy people were taken into custody, as part of a large-scale drug sweep in New Britain.

Police Chief James Wardwell says people reported suspicious activity and drug buys in downtown, and the Arch Street neighborhood.

“This was a massive undertaking,” Wardwell said. “It is the largest sweep in the last decade for sure.”

So many people were arrested that some of them were held in nearby towns, until they could appear in court.

Police seized heroin, crack, and marijuana.
