Groundbreaking was held Monday afternoon in Minuteman Park,across from the William A. O’Neill State Armory  and Legislative Office Building in  Hartford  for the first State  memorial to honor  the Connecticut  men and women who have served  in America’s military  since the Revolutionary War.

The memorial has been in the planning stages for years.It will feature  an Honor wall and  five  columns  representing each branch of the service.It will be a site for  official observances, activities and ceremonies  that honor veterans.

Work on the memorial is expected to be   completed by the end of this year.
