Fishing Season Underway

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection says Connecticut’s rivers, streams, lakes and ponds are stocked and ready for the start of trout fishing season.

The season opened Saturday, a traditional start of spring for many families.

About 381,000 trout have been released into 102 lakes and ponds and 200 rivers and streams throughout the state.

The state environmental agency says it expects to stock more than 630,000 trout during spring stocking. It began in early March and is set to continue until the end of May.

Anglers can purchase their 2013 fishing licenses online or at participating town halls, tackle retailers and Department of Energy and Environmental Protection offices across the state.
