Southington Police say a woman reports being raped by a man when she got out of her car to check for possible damage in an accident Thursday night near Sunset Rock State Park.

She told police she was driving on North Shuttle Street and when she stopped at the intersection to turn onto Long Bottom Road, her car was tapped by the car behind her.  She said the other driver assaulted her when she got out of her vehicle.  He’s described as 24 to 30,  five-foot-six to five-foot-eight,  with a slender build and short hair,  wearing a black hoodie with darker, baggy jeans.  He was driving a black Nissan Altima,  model year 2003  to 2006, with no registration plate on the front plate bracket.

Police are asking to hear from anyone who may have information about the case or who may have been driving in the area of Long Bottom Road and North Shuttle Street between 9:00 p.m. and 11 p.m.  Call Southington Police at (860) 378-1644 or (860)621-0101.
