Work Zone Safety Week In Connecticut

This is National Work Zone Safety Awareness week.

In Connecticut, the state will be kicking off the week on Tuesday with an event at the offices of the state Department of Transportation in Berlin.

Among those expected to be on hand will be Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman and state DOT Commissioner James Redeker.

Awards will be given in the third annual Connecticut Roadway Poster Contest for children in grades K through 6.

In addition, highway construction and maintenance workers, contractors, utility companies, and state and local police will talk about awareness and the importance of safe driving, particularly in the area of contruction zones.

The event begins at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
