Police Say Suspect Attacked Ex-Girlfriend, Tried Twice To Escape Custody

TRUMBULL, Conn. (AP) _ Trumbull police say they arrested a 33-year-old man after he attacked his ex-girlfriend in a home invasion and tried to escape from police twice.

Police responded to the Avalon Gates apartment complex Sunday morning when the woman called 911. She told police that Richard Rosario of Fairfield tried to strangle her, punched her and threatened to kill her, her family and responding police officers.

The Connecticut Post reports  that Rosario ran from the apartment complex but was caught by officers. Police say he was brought to a hospital with a minor hand injury and tried to escape again.

Rosario is detained on $750,000 bail on charges including home invasion, stalking and strangulation. He’s to be arraigned Monday in Bridgeport Superior Court. It’s not clear if he has a lawyer.
