UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) _ UConn guard Kelly Faris has been drafted by the WNBA’s Connecticut Sun.
Faris, who helped lead the Huskies to an eighth national title last week, was taken with the 11th pick in the draft’s first round on Monday.
She joins a Sun team that already includes former UConn stars Tina Charles, Kalana Greene, Renee Montgomery and Jessica Moore.
Another former UConn star, Asjha Jones, announced earlier this month that she will be taking a year off from the Sun to recover from some nagging injuries.
Faris, a 5-foot-10 guard, finished her UConn career with 1,107 points, 821 rebounds and 545 assists. She also is fifth on the Huskies’ all-time steals list with 294.
The Sun finished the 2012 season at 25-9, losing to Indiana in the Eastern Conference Finals.
