Bridgeport Police are hoping the public can help them identify a man who delivered a grenade to the Bridgeport Police Internal Affairs Office last month.
Police say the suspect put a grenade in a coffee cup and gave it to an unsuspecting person to deliver. They say the grenade, which probably was purchased as a souvenir, was filled with a low-grade explosive powder and could not have detonated, though that was apparently the supect’s intent.
Police released camera images of the man’s vehicle, a black Toyota 4-Runner with tinted windows, 5-point rims, a roof rack, chrome door handles and rain guards over the driver and passenger windows. They describe him as a black man of medium build with scruffy hair, about 35 years old and six feet tall. He was wearing a waist-length coat with a belt and a light colored hat on Feb. 27, the day the grenade was delivered.
Police ask anyone who may know anything about the suspect to call Detective Todd Hoben at 203-581-5247.
