Gambling Council Director Has Advice As March Madness Begins

The height of March Madness is upon us with the start of college basketball tournaments, most notably the ncaa men’s tourney.

It may also be a particulary difficult time for someone who has a gambling addiction problem.

While the office pool is popular with many, Connecticut Council on Problem Gambling executive director Mary Drexler says it could pose problems.

She says those who may have gambling issues will be the most likely ones to take part in pools or fill out multiple bracket sheets.

Drexler says oftentimes, a problem gambler will continue to make bets to cover past debts.

She advises anyone who thinks they may have a problem or know someone who may, to contact the council’s Helpline at 888-789-7777
