Man Convicted in 2004 East Hartford Murder

A Hartford jury Thursday convicted a man in the kidnapping and killing of East Hartford woman Trupti Patel in her basement in 2004.

Kelvin Daye, 43, was found guilty of murder, felony murder, capital felony and first-degree kidnapping. He was acquitted of first-degree sexual assault and one count of capital felony.

Still, with that conviction, he faces a life in prison without parole when sentenced May 9.

The decision was made only 4 1/2 hours after deliberation from the jury.
