Guilty Plea In 2006 Norwich Shooting

A 33-year-old Norwich man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter for his role in the shooting death of  19-year-old Sean Hill in Norwich almost seven years ago.  Bruce Gathers entered the plea under the Alford doctrine,   not admitting guilt,  but acknowledging the state had enough evidence for a conviction.

Gathers and a second man awaiting trial in the case,  Gregory Smith,  were previously convicted and sentenced to prison fdor their roles in an assault prior to Hill’s death.

Sentencing for Gathers was scheduled for May 23.
