Gas Odor Prompts Brief Evacuation Of Apartment Building

Residents of a New Haven apartment building are back in their homes after the fire department ordered a brief evacuation when the odor of gas was reported.

A spokesman for Southern Connecticut Gas crews checked and found no gas in the building,  and residents were allowed to return.  The gas company is continuing to investigate the source of the odor,  though the spokesman says it may be traced to one of several restaurants on the ground floor of the building.
