Paul D’Ambrosio, 49, of Waterbury, who works as a Danbury mailman, pleaded guilty Monday to one count of receipt and distribution of child pornography.

According to court documents and statements made in court, on Aug. 8, 2012, a Hartford Police detective assigned to the Connecticut Child Exploitation Task Force logged into a publicly available Internet file sharing program and downloaded approximately 50 images and 10 videos of child pornography from shared directories maintained by D’Ambrosio.

On Aug. 30, 2012, Task Force agents searched D’Ambrosio’s homes and seized a laptop computer and related components.

A forensic search of the computer revealed more than 600 images and videos of child pornography, including images of children under the age of 12 engaged in sexually explicit conduct and images of children engaging in sadistic or masochistic conduct.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 3 at which time D’Ambrosio faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years and a fine of up to $250,000.

He’s been released on bond under electronic monitoring by the United States Probation Office since his arrest on Aug. 30, 2012.
