An Army captain with ties to Connecticut has been killed in an attack in Afghanistan.

Andrew Pedersen-Keel graduated from Avon Old Farms.

Madison First Selectman Fillmore McPherson says members of the captain’s family live in his community.

“His parents live in town,” McPherson said. “He apparently graduated high school just before they moved here several years ago.”

Pedersen-Keel graduated from West Point Military Academy.

Town officials lowered flags in Madison to half staff.  They say they will render whatever sort of honors the parents would like.
