Police: Clerk With Machete Chased Would-Be Robber

Bloomfield police say the clerk at the Shell station on Blue Hills Avenue pulled a machete on a would-be holdup man early Sunday, ordering the suspect out of the business.

Police released security camera photos from the attempt shortly after 3:00 a.m.  The clerk told them a man wearing a ski mask entered, claimed to have a gun and demanded money.

When the clerk pulled the machete, the suspect removed his mask and fled on foot.  His photo is posted on our website, wtic dot com.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sergeant James Salvatore,  (860) 242-5501 ext. 5231.
