ANSONIA, Conn. (AP) _ Firefighters have put out a blaze in a nightclub building in Ansonia that threatened to spread to other buildings on Main Street. No injuries are reported.

The fire was reported shortly before 4 a.m. Monday in a building that houses the Asylum Nightclub. Firefighters from neighboring Derby were called in to help.

A person who lives in the building escaped unharmed.

Officials say the fire appears to have started in the basement. Fire marshals are on the scene trying to determine the cause.
