Brothers Arrested In Copper Theft

East Hampton Police have arrested two brothers in connection withtheft of copper piping from  a local building.

Police say 25-year-old Christopher Cherry and 24-year-old Brian Cherry had been reported as suspicious persons loitering near a vacant commercial building being prepared for renovation.  A witness told police they were carrying heavy bags they had not had when they entered the area.

When police examined the bags, they found 30 pounds of copper pipe that had been stolen from inside the building at 13 Summit Street.

The two face burglary and larceny charges,  in addition to other charges related to previous arrests.
