MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (AP) _ Police in Connecticut say a home invasion suspect broke into an apartment armed with a knife, but the victim had a machete and scared off the intruder.
Middletown police say 33-year-old city resident Damion Palmer broke into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment on Rose Circle at about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday. Authorities say the woman’s current boyfriend confronted Palmer, who displayed a large knife tucked in his waistband and said he was upset because he still wanted to be with the woman.
Police say the current boyfriend then grabbed a machete and called 911 at the same time, prompting Palmer to flee.
Palmer later surrendered to police and was charged with home invasion and threatening. He’s detained on $250,000 bail.
It’s not clear if Palmer has a lawyer.
