Charity Would Benefit From State Red Sox Vanity Plates

Connecticut drivers who are Red Sox fans would be able to fly the flag of Red Sox nation — at least on their license plates — under a program announced at the State Capitol Friday.

If at least 400 fans express an interest, a special vanity license plate showing the Red Sox logo will be created.  Purchasers would have to pay the regular vanity plate fees, plus donate an extra fifty dollars to the Red Sox Foundation.  Executive vice president and chief operating officer Sam Kennedy says mony raised will go to a scholarship fund.

WTIC’s Joe D’Ambrosio hosted the announcement, and Yankees fan Governor Malloy donned a Red Sox jersey.
