Police: Man Smashed Dunkin Donuts With Ax
New Britain police say a 63-year-old New Britain man faces a variety of charges after took an ax to the Dunkin Donuts on East Main Street. Police say store employees told Wilfred Levine he was loitering and would have to leave. They told police he did, but that he came back with a full-sized ax, asking for the employees who escorted him out. They say he then proceeded to smash the interior of the store with the axe, then went outside and smashed the exterior plate glass windows.
When police arrived they saw Levine holding the axe, and say he raised it as if to assault the officer, Police say after he refused multiple commands to drop the ax, police used a taser on him. He was arrested and is held in lieu of three-quarter-million dollars bond.
Charges against Levine include criminal attempt to commit assault, criminal attempt to assault police, criminal mischief, criminal trespass, possession of a dangerous weapon, breach of peace, reckless endangerment and interfering with police.
