The Hartford Moving 1500 Employees Out Of Simsbury

Simsbury town officials say they’ve been informed that The Hartford plans to sell its facility at 200 Hopmeadow Street, and consolidate operations in Hartford and Windsor.  At present 1,500 employees of the Hartford work at the Simsbury campus,  along with 300 Prudential and MassMutual employees.

Simsbury First Selectman Mary Glassman says she’s disappointed that the town’s largest taxpayer is leaving.  She says the town will work with The Hartford and with the State Department of Economic and Community Development to find potential buyers for the 638,174 square foot building.

Glassman says for Fiscal Year 2013,  The Hartford’s tax liability to Simsbury was more than one and three quarter million dollars.
