Bridgeport
A good Samaritan and two Bridgeport police officers are being credited with saving the life of a woman Monday night near the Captain’s Cove Seaport on Yacht Street.
Police say it was around 7:45 p.m. when a man walking his dogs heard the 50-year-old victim in the frigid waters crying for help. He threw the woman a strap. Another woman flagged down Officers Omar Jiminez and Daniel Gerardi and directed them to the scene.
Gerardi was able to grab the woman by the belt and pull her out of the water.
The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of hypothermia and lacerations to the arm and leg. Gerardi was treated for a hand laceration.
Names of the victim and the Samaritan have not been released.
