Keith Loftus, 31 of Deep River, was captured in Middletown Thursday evening trying to break into cars at the YMCA. Loftus, in addition to the “Shaken Baby” charges, is also facing Violation of Probation Charges stemming from other serious felonies.
Middletown police, after receiving a complaint of someone attempting to break into vehicles, located and took Loftus into custody. They held Loftus on our outstanding arrest warrant ending the three-day hunt for him. Loftus is being charged by Old Saybrook police with Assault in the First Degree, Risk of Injury to a Minor, Interfering with an Officer, Conspiracy to Commit Interfering with an Officer and Conspiracy to Commit False Statement. Loftus is facing a $150,000 bond.
In addition to the Old Saybrook arrest warrant there was a new arrest warrant issued for Loftus charging him with Violation of Probation. Loftus was on probation for Burglary in the third Degree, Larceny 1st Degree and Theft of a Firearm. The bond on this warrant is an additional $150,000.
