Hartford’s Shooting Task Force has arrested an East Hartford man in a November shooting – a shooting that apparently was connected to the death of former University of Connecticut football player Jasper Howard, who was killed during an on-campus fight in 2009.

Rasheem Grimes, 24, says he’s the brother of John Lomax III who’s serving an 18-year prison sentence for the stabbing death of Howard. Grimes says he shot Hakim Muhammad, 24 of East Hartford, because Muhammad cooperated in the Howard investigation and was given a more lenient sentence, reports NBC Connecticut. he served 2 1/2 years in prison for his role in the Howard incident.
