A Manchester woman facing charges of shoplifting at a South Windsor store faces additional charges after police say she left her one and three-year-old children alone in a car.
Officers were dispatched to the Gap Kids store at Evergreen Walk on Wednesday. That’s where they found 26-year-old Sharmerra Canty detained by store security.
Police learned the little ones were locked in a car in the parking lot in temperatures hovering near the freezing mark with no heat.
Canty is free on five-thousand-dollars bond and is due in court February 28th. The children are now in the care of a relative.
