HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ The Connecticut Health Insurance Exchange is getting a new name.

The online health insurance marketplace, a key component of the federal health care overhaul law, will now be called Access Health CT.

Jason Madrak, Access Health CT’s chief marketing officer, said Tuesday the goal is to make the new insurance marketplace consumer-friendly, allowing residents and small business owners to compare and choose health insurance plans. It will also help people determine whether they’re eligible for discounts through tax credits or whether they’re eligible for Medicaid.

Open enrollment begins in October 2013. A new website has been created at http://www.accesshealthct.com that explains how the exchange will work. There is also an online savings calculator to help people choose a health plan.
